Happy Full Moon Blood Moon Eclipse!

Happy Full Moon Blood Moon Eclipse!

Greetings!
Today we have the full moon in Virgo, which is also a lunar eclipse and blood moon, with the sun in the mutable earth sign Virgo and the moon in the mutable water sign Pisces. Leading up to this event was Uranus stationing retrograde in Gemini, which has wreaked havoc over the last few days as a build up.

There’s a lot to unpack, so let’s get started. The first thing to note is that like so many astrological things, the devil (or God) is in the details. The obvious and first point to note is the sun is opposing the moon, meaning that tension is in the air that pertains to our internal masculine and feminine sides, and in this case, our analytical and intuitive natures. Virgo is a sign that is all about analytical thinking, critical thinking, practicality, and organization. Pisces, on the extreme other end, is a creative, intuitive, spiritual, and emotional sign. When you put the two together, you can see the tension between extremes that is present. If you are naturally an analytical person, this full moon may be a challenge due to the emotions present. You might also find that your analytical skills fail you, and what is being called for is your intuition, so you may feel like a fish out of water, pun intended. Conversely though, if you are naturally intuitive, creative, and emotional, you may either find all of these are too much to bear, or that now is the time to put those traits to the side to embrace critical and analytical thinking to navigate the changes that are occurring. I realize that most people fall somewhere in the middle, and those people might be the most disadvantaged, because the question is “which set of abilities to use-Virgo traits or Pisces?”

To answer this, we look to the details for guidance. The moon in Pisces is conjunct, or blended with, the North Node of the Moon. The North Node of the Moon is a mathematical point in space that has to do with spiritual guidance and forward progress. When it is in Pisces, it tells us now is the time to trust your intuition and turn to your spiritual teachers (meaning teachers in spirit form, and not necessarily physically incarnated ones) to discover how to move forward in these changing times. This can be intimidating because it requires faith, and oftentimes, faith in the unknown. Creative solutions may be what are called for instead of well-laid plans.

But, to counterbalance this, the sun is conjunct Mercury, which rules Virgo, and this relationship tells us it is time to communicate in clear and precise ways. To assist with this is the fact that communication skills may be sharper than normal. Your ability to adapt may also be stronger than normal, so if you find that life has recently dealt you lemons, you may also find it is fairly easy to turn them into lemon juice, or lemonade if you add sweetness to the equation. Yes, this also means that Mercury is opposing the North Node of the Moon, so in your quest to listen to your intution, you may find you cannot put things into words. Sometimes this can be frustrating, because you KNOW what to do; it’s just hard to share this with others.

Venus in Leo and Mars in Libra are interacting very smoothly, which gives us subtle information on how to proceed. Without getting too deep into it, both planets can have to do with romance, love, and creative self-expression. Leo is the sign of creativity, optimism, leadership, and playfulness, while Libra is the sign of healthy personal relationships, and this usually focuses on romantic ones. Hence, when the two are interacting smoothly together, they tell us that love is what can carry you through, especially if you are bold, expressive, and optimistic.

Yes, these are the hidden factors and triggers during this moon: Love, optimism, boldness, and creativity. If you embrace and work with these themes, you may find you can lay a foundation for long-term success, especially in the home and with the immediate family. This is evidenced by Jupiter in Cancer trining the moon and North Node conjunction in Pisces. And yes, if you connect the dots, you find more references to love and the gentler arts than you do to critical and analytical thinking. What I’m reminded of here is of someone so scared that they cling to what they know and what they can do, rather than trying new ways to handle and resolve things. This is a generic pattern, but I’m sure you see the point. If the way you are apporaching this isn’t working, this is the moon to recognize that, and then to be bold to try new things for the sake of success.

From a numbers perspective, the dominant element in the air right now is water, with four substantial chart points in water signs. There are only two placements in earth signs, making it the weakest element right now. As I mentioned above, this may be too much for some people, but for most, the message is clear-follow your intuition and go with what what feeds your spirit. This may be challenging because it requires you to face fears and step out into the unknown, but as anyone who has ever grown anything will tell you, growth doesn’t happen in your comfort zone-just watch a seed blossom to know the truth of this. Another trait of water that should be noted is that it is usually fluid, which calls for adaptation.

Finally, the deets. Lunar eclipses tend to manifest internally, and how long it will take things to play out is based on the duration, and in this case, we are looking at a timeframe of six weeks or so, give or take a couple of days. So, over the next six weeks, watch for internal changes that have to do with everything we’ve discussed. But, this also means, if you are not proactive regarding making changes happen, then they will be forced upon you, but don’t for a minute think you are the victim if this occurs, because it is your laziness and fear that may cause changes to be thrust upon you. And these changes will be of an emotional or spiritual nature, or both.

So, to summarize, be bold! Chase your dreams. Reach out to those who your heart desires. Take a spiritual look at things. Get to work when it comes to embracing and developing your creativity. And, most importantly, remember the age-old wisdom: fortune favors the bold. Will you be the victor of the next several weeks of your life, or will you be the victim of your own machinations? It’s up to you.

Namaste,
