Happy Full Moon!

Happy Full Moon!

Greetings!

Today we have the full moon, with the sun in the fixed fire sign Leo and the moon in the fixed air sign Aquarius. Full moon’s on their own are potent enough, but this one is a little more than normal because of the current Mercury retrograde. Not only is Mercury retrograde, it is getting ready to station direct, so the potency of it is more pronounced than normal.
And, to drive the point home, there is an aspect pattern called a Mystic Rectangle in the air, meaning right now is a conducive time to go within for guidance, or reach out to those whom you consider wise in order to solve some of your internal quandaries.

We also have a Venus and Jupiter conjunction in Cancer. This is worth noting because both of the planets are considered benefic, and Venus is extra potent when in Cancer. This aspect tells us now is the time to focus on the home and immediate family, and if you do so, you may find unexpected blessings and opportunities. This could also be extended to include people you have known a long time. Interestingly enough, religion might play a stronger than normal role, and in this case, the strength could bring about increased spirituality due to Jupiter’s presence. The trick, as many of you know, is to think about what constitutes religion to you. It doesn’t have to be traditional religions, like many might think. This conjunction is not interacting one way or another with the full moon, so you don’t have to worry about this conjunction being integrated with the full moon energies. What I mean here is that you can work with this energy in a solitary way, and not worry about it impacting with what else is happening.

The two dominant elements during this time are air and fire, meaning that now is the time to be active. Now is the time for inspiration and socialization. The mind and the will are the two most important parts of the self to work with, and by working with them, you may find forward motion and an opportunity for healing. Chiron is still in Aries, meaning that psychological wounds are being exposed, as are opportunities for healing said wounds. Of course seizing these wounds requires open mindedness, humility, and, to paraphrase Yoda, to “unlearn what you have learned.” Many people today are going through life subconsciously; their lives built on trauma responses, seeking nothing more than satisfaction from the placation of desires. I offer this not as a judgment, but rather an observation. To each their own, until such behaviors negativelyimpact others. What I just illustrated is an example of a type of wound associated with Chiron in Aries. There are variances on this generalization of course, but the pattern is the same, or at least similar. It is during this time that we can spot our wounds if we step outside of ourselves, or open our minds to the possibility that we are the ones who are wrong. I see a lot of projection in the world today, but I don’t see much introspection.

Introspection is something I have done a lot in my life. When I was younger I probably did it too much, inadvertently creating insecurities, which others could take advantage of. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned more about myself, and about others, and now I balance introspection with observation. Because of this, I am taking this time to process. When Mercury is retrograde, it is an excellent time to go within and process where you are and where you’re going, and during this full moon, it is a good time to find the harmony between the self and the group.

Yep, even with everything I broke down, the dominant energy in the air is that of finding the balance between the self (Leo) and the group (Aquarius). As we see, tension is in the air between taking care of the self and doing what is best for everyone involved. This is pretty easy to see with a casual scan of headlines. This behavior is most evident when it comes to people whose pursuits are rooted in greed and control. I won’t go into the sociopolitical scene and themes here, but I share this to illustrate the point. One of the best things each and everyone of us can do right now is take this weekend to reflect on our role and relationship to society at large. Then, when this role is understood, it is wise to go within and see what internal changes we can (and should) make to improve our relationship with the group. I’m keeping this vague because the details of this are subjective to each one of us. Part of this evaluation requires internal assessment and taking steps to heal our wounds.

So, to close, where are you in society? Do you know your role? Do you know your place? What can you do to improve your station? Where are you putting your energy, and why? How are you your own problem? How are other people causing you problems? Can you do anything about them? Should you? And to clarify: Yes, I have asked and answered these questions for myself before, and I routinely revisit them to keep my perspective clear and humble. Mars in Libra is currently opposing Saturn and Neptune, retrograde and conjunct, in Aries, tells us that now it is wise to avoid ambivalence and analysis paralysis. Now is the time to take definitive action in the one area you have the most control over: yourself.

Blessings,
